/// About
The 99% is Behance’s research arm and think tank. Taking its name from Thomas Edison’s famous quote that “genius is 1% inspiration, 99% perspiration,” the 99% includes a daily web magazine, an annual conference, and the best-selling book “Making Ideas Happen.” Through articles, tips, videos, and events, we share best practices that help creative professionals move beyond idea generation into idea execution.
/// Daily Web Magazine
To get to the crux of the forces behind idea execution, 99% regularly interviews prominent and emerging creative professionals known for their high level of productivity. Based on our interviews, we publish a regular series of articles, tips, and videos, which offer insight into how especially productive teams and people bring their ideas to life.
/// Conference
The annual 99% Conference, held each Spring, brings together 400+ creative thinkers and doers for two days to hear talks from creative luminaries and exchange best practices on making ideas happen. Past conferences have included presentations from speakers such as Twitter creator Jack Dorsey, venture capitalist Fred Wilson, designer Michael Beirut, bestselling author Seth Godin, photographer Jill Greenberg, and Threadless founders Jeff Kalmikoff and Jake Nickell, among others.
/// Book
Making Ideas Happen is the national bestseller from Behance and 99% founder Scott Belsky. Based on hundreds of interviews and years of research, the book chronicles the methods of exceptionally productive creative leaders and teams - companies like Google, IDEO, and Disney, and individuals like author Chris Anderson and Zappos CEO Tony Hsieh - that make their ideas happen, time and time again.
/// Workshops
In addition to the annual Conference, the 99% also conducts workshops throughout the year to share best practices on idea execution in an intimate setting. The workshops are typically held in New York City, and capped at around 25 people to ensure ample individual participation.
